The Call to Music

It all started in June of 2014. I had been feeling like I was suppose to leave my job for quite some time, but the thought - I assumed - was ludicrous. Leaving a job with full benefits and amazing pay? I shouldn't be thinking such irrational thoughts!

It was quitting time on a Friday afternoon, June 27, and while walking out of the aircraft hanger - where we worked - a friend asks, "Hey Erick, are you going to Creation Fest tonight? Today and tomorrow are the last two days."

"I don't know," I replied, "maybe."

I called my brother Andrew to find out if he wanted to go. He said he would. I loaded up some firewood and a tent, and we were off. We rolled up to the front gate, and the gate keeper asked if we were staying the night. "Yessir," I replied.

"Ok, that will be $80 per person," he said.

"Ouch!" I thought. "Do you give military discount?" I asked.

"No, unfortunately we do not," He replied. "But hold on a sec....." He walked away and began speaking with a lady that looked like she was in charge. All I heard of the conversation was the lady responding, "You just do what you think the Lord is telling you to do!"

He came back over to the truck window and handed us two wrist bands and said, "You guys have a good time."

"How much do I owe you?" I asked.

"Have a good time," he said again.

My brother and I just looked at each other and smiled. Andrew said, "That was totally a God thing," and I couldn't agree more.

The next morning.....
